Port Adelaide Self-Guided Picnic Trail

ā˜• Lipson Cafe — A Stop on One of Port Adelaide's Prettiest Streets

Welcome to Lipson Cafe, tucked into one of the most beautiful streets on the whole trail.

šŸ›ļø The Street Behind the Name

Lipson Street takes its name from Captain Thomas Lipson, who arrived in South Australia in 1836 and went on to become the colony's harbour master and customs collector — effectively the man in charge of Port Adelaide in its earliest days.

In its heyday, the street was lined with grand bank buildings and maritime offices, and tea rooms were once part of that story too — so keep an eye out for the "Lipson Tea Room" signage as a little link to the street's past.

šŸ“® Spot the Old English Post Box

Just outside, you'll find a charming old English post box — one of the trail's most photogenic little details. Perfect for a quick photo before you continue on.

šŸ“ø Snap It, Share It, Get a Surprise

Keep an eye out for photo spots along the trail — including the post box right here on Lipson Street. Snap a photo, post it, and head back to the Visitor Information Centre to show us.Ā

There's a little surprise waiting for anyone who does. šŸ‘€
